You want to have a tummy tuck or a facelift and you want it done by the best. You are looking for the perfect plastic surgeon for the job. Uh, oh, there is no such thing as the perfect surgeon! But before you get too upset, there are many excellent doctors out there who would perform the operation to the highest standards of their profession.

Be positive and make good use of the time that you have when you sit facing him. The most important thing of all is that you have a good plastic surgeon and that the end result of your operation is what you were wishing for.

Do not get discouraged if you must spend longer waiting in the waiting room to see the doctor than you would like to. As well, the doctor may not be as enthusiastic about the procedure as you are because this is what he does every day. Do not let that dampen your spirits. A year from now none of that will make any difference because you will be left with a result that you can be happy about.

A report issued on Feb. 23 by a cadre of environment and economics researchers suggested that Kenya should ban the common plastic bag that one gets at the checkout counter of grocery stores, and place a levy on other plastic bags, all to combat the country’s environmental problems stemming from the bags’ popularity.

B2B Trade Area of Taipei Game Show, criticized by trade buyers last year, but accompanied with 2008 Taiwan Digital Content Forum, moved to the second floor at Taipei World Trade Center for world-wide participants with a better exchange atmosphere this year.

Not only local OBMs (Softstar Entertainment, Soft-World International Corp., International Games System Corp., …, etc.) but also companies from New Zealand, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea showcased different specialists with multiple styles. The name Robert Cailliau may not ring a bell to the general public, but his invention is the reason why you are reading this: Dr. Cailliau together with his colleague Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web, making the internet accessible so it could grow from an academic tool to a mass communication medium. Last January Dr. Cailliau retired from CERN, the European particle physics lab where the WWW emerged.

Wikinews offered the engineer a virtual beer from his native country Belgium, and conducted an e-mail interview with him (which started about three weeks ago) about the history and the future of the web and his life and work.

Wikinews: At the start of this interview, we would like to offer you a fresh pint on a terrace, but since this is an e-mail interview, we will limit ourselves to a virtual beer, which you can enjoy here.

Robert Cailliau: Yes, I myself once (at the 2nd international WWW Conference, Chicago) said that there is no such thing as a virtual beer: people will still want to sit together. Anyway, here we go.

Journalist, counselor, painter, and US 2012 Presidential candidate Joe Schriner of Cleveland, Ohio took some time to discuss his campaign with Wikinews in an interview.

Schriner previously ran for president in 2000, 2004, and 2008, but failed to gain much traction in the races. He announced his candidacy for the 2012 race immediately following the 2008 election. Schriner refers to himself as the “Average Joe” candidate, and advocates a pro-life and pro-environmentalist platform. He has been the subject of numerous newspaper articles, and has published public policy papers exploring solutions to American issues.

So much can go into scaffolding that most homeowners are not sure where to begin. Often people need a lift in order to apply their coatings in high places, and scaffolding then becomes a necessary safety measure. But many people especially those who do not typically work in the construction field are not sure how to go about using home platforms. Anyone who has yet to learn the basics of scaffolding would be wise to get to know what to do and what not to do with these structures before using them.

It is of the utmost important to erect these platforms correctly. If it is not put up in the proper way, it may not be safe to use. Before builders begin erecting their platform, the first step to ensure complete safety is carefully inspecting each wooden board for any defects in the material or unstable spots. The lumber should appear straight and without any spotting. If a piece appears broken or unstable it must first be repaired or replaced before it can be incorporated as part of the scaffolding. For homeowners working alone, it is important to be particularly vigilant no one else is looking out for your safety, and so this task must be taken on wholeheartedly.

Once all materials have been qualified for use and the platform is erected, there are a few maintenance tasks which must be understood. While many simply put up the scaffolding and leave it until their work is completed, it is much safer to keep up with the conditioning of your platform on a regular basis. This means that the platform must be safeguarded and checked on a regular basis. Though many people may not see the significance of doing so, maintaining a scaffolding platform means that your safety is ensured throughout its lifetime. The last thing anyone wants is to be working on top of a platform, only to have it collapse, leaving that person hanging from the eaves of the home. Checking the supports, platforms, rails and accesses on a regular basis may mean the difference between safety and injury.

Understanding how much a particular type of scaffold can hold up is another essential part of maintaining safety while working. It is very important not to load up the platform with more weight than the scaffold can safely hold. By not paying attention to the limitations of the platform, homeowners put themselves at risk. An overloaded platform could easily collapse or otherwise present a dangerous situation.

Learning from the mistakes of others is a good way to ensure that you do not put yourself at risk while working atop a platform. There are certification training courses one can take to better understand the dangers of working with scaffolding, and it may be a good idea to enroll in one before constructing the platform in the first place. Although many homeowners may believe themselves to be more than competent in this matter, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Remember, above all, that safety should come first.

A Nigerian Air Force jet fighter mistook refugees for rebels yesterday, Nigerian military said, firing on a camp in Rann, Borno State. Dozens of refugees and aid workers died.

The lowest estimate from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is of 50 dead. The BBC estimates at least 52 dead, while one Borno State official is attributed by AP as saying over 100 are dead. MSF say at least 200 were wounded.

The Red Cross said at least six of its staff died and twelve more injured. The impoverished region, in the northeast of the nation, has suffered severe famine as conflict interrupts agriculture. Farmers are unable to work owing to bombs on their land. The Red Cross said volunteers were at the camp, home to thousands, to distribute food.

The military said the Air Force was dispatched to deal with “remnants” of the Boko Haram militant group, which it claims to be in a final push against. Major General Leo Irabor, who led the operation, said, “Unfortunately, the strike was conducted but it turned out that other civilians were somewhere around the area and they were affected”. Irabor said two soldiers were amongst the dead and others were wounded.

Military spokesman General Rabe Abubakar said the military are “all in pain” after the disaster, adding “in a military operation such as this, from time to time these things do occur.” Irabor promised an investigation. President Muhammadu Buhari said he was saddened by “this regrettable operational mistake” and sought calm.

“This large-scale attack on vulnerable people who have already fled from extreme violence is shocking and unacceptable,” MSF operational chief Dr Jean-Clément Cabrol said. The Red Cross said it has staff and facilities ready in neighbouring Cameroon and Chad to assist. “The whole camp is controlled by the army and no one can come in or out without being checked,” said MSF head of emergencies Hugues Robert. Robert added the group knew travel and work in the area was dangerous, and took precautions.

Helicopters have been evacuating the wounded, including a United Nations helicopter which brought four medical personnel and 400kg (900lb) of emergency medical aid, and left with eight wounded Red Cross workers. The UN is in the midst of an appeal for aid to the famine-hit region.
